YEIDA Approves Layout Plan for International Film City in Noida, Boney Kapoor’s Vision Takes Shape
In a significant development for the Indian film industry, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has approved the layout plan for the first phase of the much-awaited International Film City in Noida. The project, located in Sector 21 of YEIDA City, is set to become a state-of-the-art hub for film production and related industries.
The first phase, spanning 230 acres, will include a mix of commercial and industrial zones. Of this, 75 acres will be dedicated to commercial development, while 155 acres will be allocated for industrial activities. The layout has been carefully designed to incorporate seven distinct zones, three of which will focus on commercial ventures, and four on industrial growth.
Once fully completed, the International Film City is expected to span a massive 1,000 acres, making it a landmark project in the Indian entertainment landscape. While the layout plan for the first phase has been approved, the remaining two phases will be developed through global tenders.
Boney Kapoor’s Vision for a World-Class Film Production Hub
Film producer Boney Kapoor, in collaboration with the Bhutani Group, was entrusted with developing the first phase of the project. The consortium has formed a special purpose vehicle called Bayview Bhutani Film City Private Limited to handle the operations, with Kapoor serving as the chairman. The Yamuna Authority’s Chief Executive Officer will also sit on the board of directors.
The film city is set to be a one-stop destination for the Indian film industry, with cutting-edge film production studios, advanced sound and light equipment, outdoor filming locations, commercial complexes, villas, and offices. Additionally, the project will host industries dedicated to manufacturing film production equipment and materials for set construction, creating a thriving ecosystem for the film industry.
An investment of approximately Rs 1,500 crore is anticipated for the development of the first 230 acres. Notably, the film city aims to rival the renowned Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, with Kapoor envisioning a facility that offers superior equipment and services at more competitive rates. One of the major highlights of the film city will be its facilities for chefs, addressing a key challenge for film stars and production teams during on-location shoots.
A Long-Term Commitment
In recognition of the project’s scale, a 90-year license has been granted to Bayview Bhutani Film City Private Limited to build and operate the film city. The Yamuna Authority will receive 18% of the revenue generated from the operations, ensuring a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.
With the first phase now approved, the International Film City in Noida is set to become a game-changer for the Indian film industry, positioning Noida as a global destination for film production and related industries. As the project progresses, expectations are high that it will not only contribute to the entertainment industry but also provide significant economic opportunities for the region.
